Auto Dealership IT Support and FTC Safeguards Readiness on the Treasure Coast
Franchise and independent car, truck, RV, powersports, and boat dealerships in Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, Okeechobee, Jupiter, and northern Palm Beach County.
Every department, one network, a lot of sensitive data
A dealership is several businesses under one roof: sales, F&I, service, parts, and an accounting office moving large payments every day. All of it runs through your dealer management system and the network around it. When the DMS connection drops, a service advisor's tablet will not sync, or a fake payoff or wire request lands in the office inbox, money and customer trust are on the line.
Titan IT Management is a locally owned, family- and veteran-owned IT company based in Stuart. We manage the computers, network, Wi-Fi, accounts, backups, and security behind your dealership so your team can focus on selling and servicing vehicles. When a problem belongs to your DMS, OEM, or other software vendor, we handle the call with them for you.
We provide FTC Safeguards Rule readiness support, not certification. The FTC does not certify dealerships or IT companies as compliant. Your dealership keeps ownership of its information security program. Our job is to put the technical safeguards in place, document them, and keep them current so you can show your work.
What we address
One point of contact for your software vendors
Dealerships rely on a long list of outside systems: the DMS, credit and F&I menus, e-contracting, CRM and digital retailing, OEM portals and diagnostic tools, inventory and pricing tools, service scheduling, and payment processing. Common systems include CDK Global, Reynolds and Reynolds, Dealertrack, and Tekion, along with OEM and third-party tools, among others.
We act as liaison to your DMS, OEM, and other software vendors. When support, an install, an update, or an issue needs the vendor, we coordinate with them on your behalf. That means we open the ticket, explain the environment, give their technicians the access they need while it is needed, and follow up until it is resolved. You do not have to sit on hold or figure out whether the problem is the DMS, the computer, the network, or the internet connection.
To be clear about what that means: we are not a reseller, partner, certified interface provider, or authorized representative of these vendors or any manufacturer, and we do not have a special support line into them. We go through the same support channels your dealership would, and we bring the technical detail that gets the issue resolved faster. The software itself, its licensing, any OEM network or equipment requirements, and its features stay between your dealership and the vendor.
How Titan helps
- Access by department. Accounts and permissions sized to each role, so sales, F&I, service, parts, and accounting see what they need and nothing more, with prompt removal when someone leaves.
- Multi-factor authentication. On email, remote access, and the systems that hold customer information, one of the controls the Safeguards Rule calls for and insurers check first.
- Email security. Advanced filtering and phishing protection, alerts on suspicious mailbox rules, and email encryption on Helios and Cronus plans for sending customer information.
- Security awareness training. Phishing simulations and short training so staff check fake payoff, wire, and payment change requests before acting.
- Service lane tablets and shared devices. Managed and locked down tablets and shared workstations, with updates handled and lost devices able to be secured.
- Network built for a dealership. Separate networks for business systems, guests in the showroom and service lounge, cameras, and shop equipment, so a guest device never shares a network with your DMS.
- Backup and tested recovery. Image-based backup of servers and key workstations, separate backup of Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, and restores we actually test and record.
- Vulnerability and penetration testing. Available as quoted work to support the regular testing the Safeguards Rule expects when continuous monitoring is not in place.
The FTC Safeguards Rule, in plain terms
The FTC treats dealerships that offer financing or leasing as financial institutions under the Safeguards Rule. That means keeping a written information security program built on a risk assessment, with safeguards such as access control, encryption of customer information, multi-factor authentication, monitoring or regular testing, staff training, and oversight of service providers. The rule also requires the dealership to designate a Qualified Individual to oversee the program and report on it.
Here is where we fit. We put many of the technical safeguards in place and help create the technical documentation for your program: what controls exist, how backups and restores are tested, who has access to what, and how devices are managed and retired. That way your program describes what the dealership actually does.
What we do not do is run your program for you or serve as your Qualified Individual. Your dealership designates that person, owns the program, and makes the decisions in it. We do not give legal advice and we do not certify compliance. Your dealership and its counsel should confirm how the rule applies to you.
If a breach does happen, timelines are short. The Safeguards Rule includes an FTC notification requirement for certain breaches, and Florida law adds a 30-day notice requirement for many breaches of personal information. Our article on
Florida data breach law for small businesses
explains the Florida side.
Wire fraud and payoff scams
Dealerships move large sums by wire and ACH: floor plan payments, lien payoffs, wholesale purchases, and vendor bills. Criminals know it. A fake lender payoff letter, a "new" bank account from a wholesaler, or a request that appears to come from the dealer principal can cost more than a month of profit. We reduce that risk with MFA, email protection, sign-in monitoring, and training. The most important control is still a simple habit: confirm any change to payment or bank details by phone at a number you already have on file. Learn more in
Hours, onsite visits, and local support
Our Stuart office at 900 SE Ocean Blvd, Suite 130D, is open Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM Eastern, and our help desk is staffed during those hours on every plan. Most issues are solved remotely. When a visit is the right call, our technicians come to you anywhere across the Treasure Coast and northern Palm Beach County. On Atlas, Hyperion, and Helios, onsite visits are scheduled as needed and billed as written in your agreement. Cronus adds priority onsite response and 24/7 help desk coverage under the plan agreement, which helps stores open evenings and Saturdays.
Most dealerships fit Helios or Cronus, because those plans include email encryption, phishing training, compliance readiness support and reporting, and quarterly reviews. Hyperion and above include vendor management, which is where our software vendor liaison work lives. See every plan and starting price on our

Titan provides technical safeguards and readiness support, not legal advice or certification. Your dealership and its counsel should confirm how the FTC Safeguards Rule and Florida law apply to you.
Auto dealership IT questions, answered
Do you support CDK, Reynolds and Reynolds, Dealertrack, or Tekion?+
We work with dealerships that use these and other common dealership systems. We manage the computers, network, accounts, backups, and security around them, and we act as liaison to the vendor when support, installs, updates, or issues need their help. We are not a reseller, partner, or certified provider of these vendors and do not have a direct support line; we work through their standard support channels on your behalf.
Can you make our dealership compliant with the FTC Safeguards Rule?+
No IT company can certify that, and the FTC does not certify IT companies. We put technical safeguards in place, document them, and keep them current. Your dealership keeps ownership of its program.
Can Titan be our Qualified Individual?+
No. Your dealership should designate its own Qualified Individual. We support that person with technical controls, documentation, and reporting on the systems we manage.
Our DMS provider already manages part of our network. Can you work with that?+
Yes. We document who manages what, coordinate with the DMS provider's support, and fill the gaps around their equipment.
Do you test backups?+
Yes. We run test restores and keep a record of them, so you know recovery works before you need it.
Can you help with our cyber insurance questionnaire?+
Yes. We go through the questions with you, confirm which controls are actually in place, close the gaps that matter, and keep documentation ready for renewal.
