Law Firm IT Support and Cybersecurity on the Treasure Coast
Solo practices, small firms, and multi-attorney offices in Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, and Okeechobee.
IT and cybersecurity for law firms
Law firms hold exactly the kind of information clients expect to stay private: case files, financial records, settlement details, and the wire instructions that move money at closing. When email is compromised or a server goes down the week of a filing deadline, the problem is bigger than technology. It touches client trust and your professional obligations.
Titan IT Management is a locally owned, family- and veteran-owned IT company based in Stuart. We help Treasure Coast law offices secure email in Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, enforce multi-factor authentication, protect and back up client files, give attorneys safe remote access, and keep the firm running through outages and hurricane season.
We are an IT partner, not a law firm. We put the technical safeguards in place, document them, and maintain them so you can show the reasonable efforts your duties call for. Interpreting those duties for your firm stays with you and your counsel. Compliance must come before claim.
What we address
Your Florida Bar technology duties, in plain terms
Two Rules Regulating The Florida Bar come up most often when firms talk about technology.
Rule 4-1.1 (Competence). The comment to this rule says that maintaining competence includes understanding the benefits and risks of the technology you use, including generative AI. It also says competent representation involves safeguarding confidential information, including electronic communications, and may involve retaining a non-lawyer advisor with established technological competence.
Rule 4-1.6 (Confidentiality). Paragraph (e) says a lawyer must make reasonable efforts to prevent the inadvertent or unauthorized disclosure of, or unauthorized access to, information relating to a client's representation. The comment lists factors for judging what is reasonable, such as how sensitive the information is, how likely a disclosure is without more safeguards, and the cost and difficulty of those safeguards. A breach is not automatically a violation if reasonable efforts were made.
Our part is the "reasonable efforts" on the technology side: putting sensible controls in place, writing down what was done, and keeping it current. We do not certify compliance with Bar rules, and your firm should rely on its own judgment or ethics counsel for how the rules apply to you. You can read the rules directly at floridabar.org.
Wire fraud and real estate closings
Business email compromise is a real risk for firms that handle closings, settlements, and trust account transfers. An attacker who gets into an attorney's, paralegal's, title agent's, or client's mailbox can quietly change wire instructions at the last minute.
We help firms reduce that risk with advanced email filtering and MFA, alerts on suspicious mailbox rules, and a simple written practice of confirming any wire instructions by phone at a number you already have on file, never one from the email itself. Practice management, documents, and secure remote access
We support the software law offices commonly run, such as Clio, NetDocuments, and similar practice management, document management, billing, and e-filing tools, working with those vendors when an issue falls on their side. We do not resell or represent these products.
Attorneys working from home, the courthouse, or a client's office get secure remote access through managed devices, MFA, and properly configured VPN or cloud access, without leaving the office network open to everyone.
Client data retention and device disposal
Your firm decides how long client files are kept. We help you carry out that schedule on the technology side: where files live, who can reach them, how archived matters are protected, and how old data is removed when it is time.
When computers, copiers, or drives are retired, we wipe or destroy the storage and document it. The Florida Bar's Ethics Opinion 10-2 addresses a lawyer's duties for devices that contain storage media, including after they leave the lawyer's control.
Local, and part of the legal community
We are based in Stuart and serve law offices across Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties. Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, and you reach people you can call by name, not an anonymous ticket queue.
Our founder, Rich Timmons, presents practical cybersecurity sessions for local bar associations and professional organizations.
What this looks like in a real law office
Law office technology has to protect client information and stay out of the way of deadlines. Here's how we handle the practical details for solo practitioners, small firms, and multi-attorney offices.
Advanced email filtering & phishing protection
Filtering that flags impersonation, malicious links, and lookalike domains before they reach an attorney's inbox.
MFA & Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace hardening
Multi-factor authentication on every account, plus reviews of admin access, forwarding rules, and connected apps.
Phishing awareness training
Regular, practical training so attorneys and staff recognize suspicious requests, especially around payments.
Business continuity & disaster recovery
Image-based backup of servers and workstations, separate backup of cloud email and files, and restores we actually test.
Staff access, onboarding & offboarding
Access sized to each role, prompt setup for new hires, and clean removal when someone leaves the firm.
Cyber insurance readiness
Accurate questionnaire answers, the gaps they expose closed, and documentation ready for each renewal.
Work scheduled around court deadlines
Updates and maintenance timed around filings, hearings, and closings so the firm keeps working.
Titan provides technical safeguards and readiness support, not legal advice or certification. We make sure the technology controls are in place and documented; your firm and its ethics counsel should confirm how the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar apply to your practice.
Law Firm: MSP Transition and Microsoft 365 Hardening
A law firm unhappy with an unresponsive MSP transitioned to Titan. We stabilized the environment, hardened Microsoft 365 security, and established proactive management with clear communication.

Yes. Titan is based in Stuart and supports law offices across Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, and Okeechobee counties, including Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Fort Pierce, Vero Beach, and Okeechobee. We provide remote support for everyday issues and onsite help when it is needed.
How does Titan help with Florida Bar Rules 4-1.1 and 4-1.6?+
Rule 4-1.6(e) asks lawyers to make reasonable efforts to prevent unauthorized access to or disclosure of client information, and the comment to Rule 4-1.1 includes understanding the benefits and risks of technology. Titan puts technical safeguards in place, such as email security, MFA, access controls, and tested backups, and documents them. We do not give legal advice or certify compliance; your firm and its counsel decide how the rules apply.
Can Titan support our practice management and document software?+
Yes. We support the tools law offices commonly use, such as Clio, NetDocuments, and other practice management, document, billing, and e-filing systems. We handle the computers, network, accounts, and security around them and work with the software vendor when an issue is on their side.
How can a law firm reduce wire fraud risk on real estate closings?+
Protect every mailbox with MFA and advanced email filtering, watch for suspicious forwarding rules, and train staff to confirm any wire instructions by phone at a number already on file, never one provided in the email. Titan sets up the technical controls and helps you document the verification process.
Can Titan help us answer our cyber insurance questionnaire?+
Yes. We review the questionnaire with you, confirm which controls are actually in place, close the gaps that matter, such as MFA, backups, and email security, and keep documentation ready for renewal so your answers are accurate.
Can we switch IT providers without disrupting court deadlines?+
Yes. We document your current environment, coordinate the handoff with your existing provider, remove old administrative access, and schedule changes around your calendar so attorneys and staff keep working. Our law firm case study walks through one of these transitions.
